CHALLENGE
Anglicare needed reliable stand-by power generation for several residential care facilities across Adelaide, South Australia.
SOLUTIONS
To meet this need, we installed a Tide Power 230kVA diesel generator dedicated to providing stand-by power at a residential care facility.
Key features include:
- A self-adjusting 100kW Viking Load Bank that maintains the generator at a minimum 40% load, significantly extending the engine’s lifespan.
- An automatic transfer switch (ATS) that detects mains power failure and remotely starts the generator to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
- A mimic panel located in the nurse’s quarters, enabling staff to monitor generator performance and faults in real time, allowing immediate response to any alarms.
Additional safety measures were implemented to protect service technicians during maintenance:
- A mechanical guard installed over the engine turbocharger
- The exhaust system wrapped with volcanic matter-based insulation for heat protection
- Mechanical safeguards around the generator circuit breaker (GCB)
These features guarantee safe, efficient, and reliable stand-by power for the facility, ensuring continuous operation when mains power is lost.
